NEW DIRECTOR PROGRAM

Welcome to Chi Alpha’s newest training opportunity. This distance learning program is designed to help those leaders transition into Chi Alpha from other ministries or the marketplace into being a director of a Chi Alpha (XA) Chapter on a college campus.

OVERVIEW

The training is a eleven-month, non-residential experience to help those entering Chi Alpha from other careers to understand and gain the vision, values, and unique mission that Chi Alpha uses to reach college students for Christ in the United States. This training is designed for the small percentage of leaders who are unable to participate in a residential Campus Missionary in Training (CMIT) program. The training follows a “distance learning model” similar to many graduate programs with personal reading/study, on-site visits, monthly video cohorts, peer connection exercises, and personal mentoring and coaching.

This program is built around the assumptions that those transitioning into XA have already been trained in the basics of ministry through theological and practical experiences. Since each participant has more of the basic life skills developed, our focus is on the specific skills and dynamics of collegiate ministry and dynamics of building a discipleship driven ministry on a secular campus.

Each participant will:

  • Complete an application process which includes the Ridley Assessment for Pioneers or other approved skills assessment;
  • Be supplied with the study materials;
  • Participate in an orientation weekend;
  • Connect with healthy Chi Alpha chapters for on-site visits. Visit a minimum of 2 campuses on three occasions (kickoff week, fall retreat, and spring leadership selection);
  • Be paired with a mentor/coach to meet with monthly over the ten-month program;
  • Create and work through two learning plans based on identified strengths and weaknesses. Each learning plan covers four months of activity;
  • Make monthly peer to peer video calls;
  • Participate in a monthly three-hour video conference call covering course topics over ten months;
  • Participate in a four day New Director Training Intensive (NDTI) at the National Resource Center;
  • Participate in the Pioneering Boot Camp.
